For this project I decided to try to replicate the simplistic sites of the late 90s (mainly due to time constraints).

What is web development?

Web devlopment is the creation and management of websites. The creation of websites can be done through programming languages such as HTML, CSS and Javascript. This is usually done for clients.

What are some useful majors for web designers?

Did you know? --> New York is the second highest state for highest amount of web developers.

What if I wanted to advance?

With web development you can advance to software development and later computer development in general (which I plan to do).

What are some benefits?

Unlimited (but not paid) vacations if self-employed. The only benefit I could find for if you ARE employed is health insurance.

What's the annual pay like?

It depends, here's the highest paying states for web devs:

  3. California - $88,606
  4. Alaska - $85,739
  5. Oregon - $84,750

The average pay in New York is $79,880.

What experience do you need?

Typically you need on and off job experience. For example, off job would be personal sites, and on job could be a website for a small business.

what education do you need?

You typically need a highschool education, training, and an associates or bachelors degree.

How good are the employment opportunities?

There's TONS of jobs opportunities in web development.

Can I be self employed?

You can work for a company or be self employed.

What are some skills I need?

you need to know how to talk and work with people, problem solve, and a LOT of anger management classes. You also need to know basic HTML and CSS.


A DAY IN THE LIFE

So, what does a day in the life of a web developer look like?

Typically, A day includes checking emails, attending meetings, and coding. It may also include sharpening your skills and learning new coding languages such as Python or PERL while in an office. After work it’s normal to work on personal or freelance projects or relax.
